About Me
June November is a film & video editor, writer/director & occasional educator. They studied Video Design & Production at George Brown College, and have been making movies for just about their whole life! (Including professionally for six years.) Starting as a child actor with keen interest in writing, they eventually made their way into the comfort of the editing room. When not editing they're usually somewhere along the process of writing & directing a personal, narrative film project. Weather working as a team player or at the helm they're drawn to themes of queer identity, (especially the messy parts) non-traditional families, isolation and our unspoken connection to each other. They have also had a few wonderful experiences educating young people on the fundamentals of filmmaking, along with the importance of visual literacy. As an educator they feel most of their job is lighting the passion youth have for visual storytelling and getting them to think critically about the films, T.V., & online videos they see. June is delighted to have done so in Ontario schools and in Nunavut. (Formerly with Youth Ottawa & Nunavut Marketing)As a queer artist it's important to them to tell honest stories, through their own experiences. Instead of trying to make a specific impression on an audience, they're main goal has always been personal expression.
